The interrogation begins within.

Narciso faces his reflection while a police inspector investigates his girlfriend’s murder nearby. As he argues with his alter ego, fragments of memory disturb his account of what happened.

Echoes turns a confined space into a psychological confrontation. Flashbacks, visual effects, and an increasingly unstable sense of reality build its suspense. The project brought Andrea’s engineering background and directorial instincts together, using advanced visual techniques in service of the story.

A short film with an international life.

Echoes won Best Italian Short Film at the 2012 MIFF Awards and Best International Short Film at the 2012 Santa Monica Film Festival.

At the 2013 Los Angeles Movie Awards, it won Best International Film, Best Director for Andrea, and Best Actor for Glen Blackhall. Its wider festival journey included DC Independent Film Festival in Washington, New York City International Film Festival, Malibu, Canberra, Arcipelago, MoliseCinema, Pentedattilo, Piemonte Movie, and CINEDAYS in Skopje.

A psychological thriller with a second life in education.

Echoes was selected for the Film Formazione catalogue of healthcare-education provider Sanità in-Formazione, in collaboration with Consulcesi Club. It accompanied an accredited six-credit ECM course on dissociative identity and situations of risk, under the scientific direction of psychiatrist and criminologist Vincenzo Mastronardi.

The film’s themes reached an audience of healthcare professionals studying psychological distress, abusive behavior, and the recognition of violence-related risks. Quotidiano Sanità Club continued to feature Echoes as a training film in 2024.

For a work built around a character’s inner conflict, this use gave the story a life beyond cinema: a starting point for professional learning and discussion.

A thriller built through performance and precision.

Glen Blackhall leads the film alongside Stella Egitto and Giuseppe Cederna. The screenplay is credited to Dario Corno, Michele Fornasero, Andrea La Mendola, and Giulietta Vacis.

Dario Corno’s cinematography, Daniele Catalli’s production design, and the visual-effects team led by Stefano Leoni shape a world in which the physical setting and the character’s fractured perception become inseparable. The production brought together Indyca, Movimento Film, and Liquid Gate Studio, with support from Film Commission Torino Piemonte.

A larger space for the same questions.

Andrea developed Echoes as a feature-length screenplay, extending his exploration of divided identity, memory, and psychological suspense.

The short’s festival recognition gives the feature project a distinctive creative foundation: a cinematic language already tested with audiences, performers, and international juries.
